Casey Abrams

Casey Abrams, the charming jazz-influenced contestant on the tenth season of “American Idol,” has broken the post-singing-competition stigma of not going anywhere with his music afterward. In fact, after being eliminated from the show, he quickly signed with Concord Records and released a self-titled debut album in 2012—a collection of music that certainly suited his musicianship and style much more than “American Idol.” Drawing influences from Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, and James Taylor, the album—which was produced by Randy Jackson—is a mix of pop and jazz. Each track feels like an homage to Abrams’ seamless vocals, which breathe an air of sweetness onto the instrumental tracks.
