Popular Huell Howser Documentary Gets Two More Screenings at Chapman University

A Thanksgiving premiere–at 8 and 9:30 p.m.–on KCET is appropriate given the many years Howser produced and hosted programs for the Los Angeles public television station. Orange's Chapman University, of course, is home to Howser's archives, and Jeff Swimmer, a film professor there, made the documentary that gives a behind-the-scenes tour of Howser's shows Visiting, Road Trip and California's Gold.

From KCET:

For more than 30 years, Howser produced hundreds of episodes and made stars of everyday people and explored of the state of California-from its natural beauty to its historical landmarks–and of course, the unforgettable visits to homespun family businesses and weird and arcane roadside attractions. In the film, viewers will also learn how the series were shot and edited, and will meet Howser's friends, colleagues and the production team who discuss his work and his offbeat, legendary adventures.
