Cannabis Almanac: 420 Events June 5-11

So you want to get your 420 on? Here’s a list of canna-centric events going on in SoCal this week that’ll give you the chance to learn, socialize and get lit with the blossoming cannabis culture. Just remember: You must be at least 21 years old and have a valid doctors recommendation if you attend events that involve using cannabis. Oh, and don’t medicate and drive!

 

CannaSexual Series With Ashley Manta:

Tuesday starts the first of a six part series of classes focusing on enhancing the sexual experience with cannabis. Over the next six weeks the workshops include: Light My Fire: How Cannabis Can Enhance Pleasure; All Hands on Bits! Hand Sex for All Bodies; Having an Affair with Yourself: Body Confidence and Sexual Empowerment; Dirty Talk and Sexting; Sexy Supplies: An Intro to Toys, Lube, and Accessories; and Handy Skills and Oral Thrills. Ashley Manta is a professional sex educator, writer and coach with years of experience in sex education. The Greene House Gifting Suite is powered by Sinister Medicinals infused cuisine, the House Brand concentrates, Sprig Soda and more. There will be a gift bag raffle with every workshop. The event is 21+.

Candlelit Ganja Yoga:

With vapes and low dose chocolates available as soon as you walk in the door, the Love Dome in Venice Beach is hosting a cannabis-enhanced yoga class designed to take you on an asana adventure of physical, mental and spiritual self-discovery into your cosmic consciousness. Saku, a certified yogini who honed her practice in Bangalore, India, will be leading the all-levels candlelit class and a guided meditation, as well. Complementary refreshments, ganja vapes and samples will be available for people to take home with them.

Cannabis Industry Employer Bootcamp– Workplace Compliance:

They say cannabis is today’s number one economic driver and job-creation engine for the U.S. economy. On Wednesday, the law office of Kimberly R. Simms & Fisher Philips in sponsorship with CBZ Insurance Services will host a workshop delving into the issues every cannabis employer will face in the upcoming years. The event will help you understand the difference between 1099 and W2 employees and the consequences of misclassification; EDD oversight of cannabis employers; labor and union issues; legal employment practices; employee policies, mandatory procedures and training; lawful pay practices; how to avoid employee related claims; workers compensation; employee benefits: How to provide them to your employees and how to utilize them; CA regulations regarding employees, background checks and labor peace agreements.

Blunt Talk: Cannabis and Design

This event is tailored for creative professionals who are inspired by recent changes within the cannabis industry, and want to prepare for an influx of new creative opportunities spurred by California’s passage of Proposition 64. Whether you are interested in creating a digital product that solves an unmet need in the cannabis space, want to carve out a niche branding cannabis products, or are simply curious– this installment of RuNT will prepare you to take on these new challenges. Speakers will include Eric Elaso from Defonce Chocolate (some of the best weed chocolate you’ll ever taste, I might add); Krystal Kitahara and Alysia Sofios, the CEO and communications director of Yummi Karma; and Felix Fang, the storyteller on PRØHBTD’s Modern Grower and VICE’s Munchies’s Sex+Food. You’ll also have a chance to win awesome cannabis swag, too. Oh, and there will be tacos to eat, beer to drink as well as knowledge to be consumed. Boom!

Leafly Series–Budtender Sesh L.A:

Budtenders play a vital role in the cannabis industry ecosystem. Designed for newbies and veterans alike, Leafly’s Budtender Sesh aims to bring Los Angeles’ best and brightest budtenders together to network, share stories, and learn about the latest cannabis trends and information. We have special guests Joa Greenhouse, responsible for all Green House Coffeeshops in Amsterdam and also Chairman of the Dutch Association of Cannabis Retailers; and Heiko Hampsink, the media developer for the Strain Hunters, founder of Green House Medical and Business Developer of Green House Brands. This event is 18+.

Puff, Pass & Paint: A 420-Friendly Creative Cannabis Class in LA:

Wine and painting classes were all the rage back in 2014. But things have evolved since then– now the 420 version of those classes exist. Puff & Pass is the original cannabis and canvas class with events held all over the country. The event consists of a two hour puff and paint session with all art supplies provided. The event is BYOC (bring your own cannabis), and you must be 21-year-of-age or older to attend.

The Cannabis Cooking Experience by Happy Hippy Co.:

L.A. Cannabis Chefs and Happy Hippy Co. are joining forces to host an in-depth, hands on 2.5 hour class that’ll detail basic and advanced cannabis culinary techniques. Whether you’re an edibles expert or aspiring to be one, you can expect to learn different methods of infusion and how to hone your cannabis cooking skills and dosages. You’ll be able to enjoy your tasty treats in class and take them home with you. The class is taught in a 420 environment, but the event is BYOC (bring your own cannabis) and it’s 21+.

MaryJane University’s High Dining– Moonlit Moveable Feast:

This is an elevated dinging experience in Joshua Tree. MaryJane University (MJU) is focused on cannabis education and are experts at creating a responsibly infused dining events. This edition of MJU High Dining is held on the night of the full moon on an artists studio compound that borders the Joshua Tree National Park. There will be a sunset course, a moonrise course and a stargazer course all of which will be crafted by chef Eduardo Pineda. There will be pre-rolled joints available, compliments of the Emerald Exchange. But perhaps the most fascinating aspect of this event is artist Kyle Simon’s custom built telescope that mechanically rotates through the night sky. As it rotates, it plays the night sky like a thumb piano creating a song that goes off the notes of the stars. Yes, you read that correctly: you’ll be able to listen to the music of the sky. Get ready for a transcendent experience.

Cannabis-Enhanced Yoga: Yoga for EveryBODY

Explore the mindfulness, healing, and bliss of cannabis-enhanced yoga with 200hr registered yoga teacher Minelli Eustacio. This is a bi-monthly community class for people to smoke, stretch, and connect while learning how cannabis can be included in everyday, active lives. Yoga mats and complimentary cannabis will be provided, but feel free to bring your own mat, preferred flower and / or smoking apparatus. Complimentary organic, pesticide-free, sun grown joints will be provided by Flow KanaAtman Vaporizer, a producer of high-quality vaporizers for flower and concentrates will be giving away one of their vaporizers; Papa & Barkley will also be there sharing their award winning cannabis balms.
