Rent

The musical about rough inner-city life complete with sing-alongs and dance sessions, Rent is a celebration of love, happiness and living life, and it’s currently at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, with original cast members from the Broadway show. But it’s not at Corona Del Mar High School, where there were protests against a planned performance of Rent earlier this year because of the story’s portrayal of gay characters and prostitution—but that’s neither here nor there. Those of us who understand that life isn’t all Leave It to Beaver will bring our happy asses to the show and project our appreciation for the arts for the whole of conservative Orange County to witness.
