Notes From the Underground

The bare sidewalks of a Monday night in Downtown Fullerton seem like a dried-up shadow of the pub crawlers parade that wreaks havoc on the weekends. And those who dare to venture past half-empty clubs bumping Top 40 on their way to the Continental Room probably don’t expect much going on there, either. Of course, they’d be wrong. Because within that dead slice of post-weekend boredom, a sweaty night of soulful and subversive sounds is born. Notes From the Underground, a weekly DJ residency hosted by rock-n-roll crate diggers Sleazy T and DJ Oldboy (both members of local thrash-rock band Death Hymn Number 9), offers OCs wayward hipsters a rowdy mixture of adventurous rock classics, cheap drinks and live bands every week. This week, NFU welcomes Los Mysteriosos, whose fiery Spanish-infused punk is a perfect combination of underground and south-of-the-border sounds.
