Life of Brian

With a tagline like “A motion picture destined to offend nearly two thirds of the civilized world. And severely annoy the other third,” anyone unfamiliar with the dry, British humor of Monty Python should get a pretty good idea of what they’re in for. Released in 1979, the story follows Brian, a hapless resident of Jerusalem who inadvertently (and rather unwillingly) become the messiah and savior of the people. Life of Brian is a slap-stick look at the foundation and possible flaws of religion—if you chose to look at it that way. However, it may be more amusing to see it simply as a ridiculous, cheeky comedy—the kind that only Monty Python can pull off.
