The UCI Film and Video Center was unsure if budget cuts would allow for its fall programming. Good news, though: Not only will the show go on, it’s planning for some impressive screenings and guests. Included are Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Yes Men Fix the World and chances to meet Portuguese filmmaker Pedro Costa, Taiwanese “Second New Wave” cinema director Tsai Ming-Liang and Oscar-nominee Kirby Dick, who will present the OC premiere of Outrage, his documentary on closeted gay politicians. But for the first screening night: Break of Dawn, a 1988 indie dramatization of LA’s first Spanish-language radio host being framed by the DA. Director Isaac Artenstein will take audience questions after the film.
