Cal State Fullerton Sends 20,000 Budget-Cut-Themed Valentine Cards To Gov. Jerry Brown

”Roses are red, violets are blue. Secure California's future–re-invest in the CSU.”
The message is being spread by Cal State Fullerton students, employees and other supporters who, on this Valentine's Day, are trying to urge Gov. Jerry Brown to remember the Cal State University system amid deep statewide budget cuts. Sexy stuff.
As part of a special campaign launched by CSUF advocacy arm Titan Advocates, university supporters sent nearly 20,000 “I [heart] CSU” Valentine cards to the governor.

Inside the card reads:

A recent Public Policy Institute of California report found that 74 percent of Californians said there is not enough state funding for higher education, and a solid majority of 65 percent said that public colleges and universities have been negatively affected by the continual budget cuts. The proposed $2 billion in state support for the CSU is the lowest in 15 years and reflects the continuation of a $750 million (27 percent) reduction in funding. If the state continues down this troubling path, the future of California will be in jeopardy. In order for California's economy to flourish, we must produce educated citizens to meet the increasing needs of our workforce. On this Valentine's Day, let's reflect on the ways in which higher education serves as the heart of California.

In addition to the love notes, Brown's camp is getting a special V-Day Twitter bomb today. Cal State supporters are urged to follow Titan Advocates on Twitter and tweet messages to the @JerryBrownGov and other representatives using the hashtag #SupportTheCSU.
