The South County enforcement is part of the Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD) “Avoid the 12” DUI Task Force operations. Streets that have a high incidence of DUI-related arrests and collisions are being targeted. The agency says the goal is to reduce DUI-related collisions, injuries and deaths.
Funding for the Buena Park and OCSD programs are provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
