UPDATE, NOV. 13, 12:49 A.M.: The mall has reopened, according to fire officials.
About 250-300 workers in 50 stores were safely moved out of the mall during the evacuation, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.
The leak was caused by contractors working on a new Smashburger restaurant at the mall accidentally severing a large gas line, Concialdi told City News Service.
