ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 11, 8:47 A.M.: A man was shot by an Orange County sheriff's deputy in the parking lot of a Yorba Linda restaurant Saturday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m., after the deputy confronted the man outside the Denny's restaurant on Oakcrest Circle.

A short chase followed on the eastbound 91 freeway until the unidentified man was taken into custody near the Coal Canyon exit, according to a statement from Lt. Jeff Hallock, the sheriff's department spokesman.
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but his condition has not been released. The deputy who shot him was not injured, Hallock noted.
The Orange County District Attorney's office is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
UPDATE NO. 1, AUG. 12, 5:02 P.M.: The Orange County Sheriff's Department has identified the man shot by one its deputies as Bryan Song Yang, 37, of Riverside County.
Currently being treated at a local hospital, Yang was booked on warrants “pending further investigation and additional charges,” according to a sheriff's statement.
No further details are being released at this time.

UPDATE NO. 2, AUG. 22, 10:25 A.M.: The Orange County District Attorney's office (OCDA) this morning announced charges against Bryan Song Yang, the Lake Elsinore man shot by a sheriff's deputy in Yorba Linda.
For allegedly evading law enforcement and causing a hit and run in Yorba Linda, the 37-year-old is scheduled to be arraigned in Santa Ana today on felony evading while driving recklessly, resisting and deterring an executive officer and hit and run with injury.
Conviction on those and a misdemeanor count of hit and run with property damage could send Yang to state prison for five years and four months with a conviction, according to the OCDA, which will request $100,000 bail at today's hearing.
Meanwhile, the OCDA continues to investigate the officer-involved shooting aspect of the case, which will be explained in a report to be released at a later date, according to the agency.
