Broods

New Zealand-based Broods produces music that can be described as vocals-focused electro-pop, where synth sounds follow the lead of Georgia Nott’s delicate voice. With Caleb Nott, Georgia’s brother, providing back vocals and either guitar or keyboard accompaniment, the resulting sound is slow and soothing, yet still catchy enough to break the repeat button (see “Bridges” and “Coattails,” two of their hits). In their latest album Evergreen (released August 2014), where percussion patterns are reminiscent of a Chris Brown love song, hip hop seems to be a heavy influence. Innovating new sounds, in fact, seems to be the playing field of Broods, where untapped pop genres will soon be uncovered.
