Though she’s laid low in recent years to tend to her growing family and the health issues of her husband (Queens of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme), Brody Dalle has quietly been crafting a solo record, due to release any minute now. Enlisting A-list support from the likes of Alain Johannes and Michael Shuman from QOTSA, along with Nick Valensi of The Strokes, Warpaint’s Emily Kokal and Shirley Manson of Garbage, the Australian-born singer is playing a rare local show before heading to Europe for a string of solo dates, then traveling down to Australia and New Zealand to open for Nine Inch Nails, and, yes, Queens of the Stone Age next month. With her work in The Distillers and Spinnerette in the rearview mirror, Dalle brings her contralto-piped singing to a relatively small setting—we're interested to hear how she sounds.
