This afternoon at John Wayne Airport, a man managed to come up on a uniformed sheriff's deputy from behind and remove his gun from his holster.
The deputy and a second sheriff's department employee managed to recover the gun and take the man into custody without any shots being fired. The employee did injure his hand and later received treatment at a local hospital.
The sheriff's department believes this was an isolated incident.
