Bon Iver

If there is a single trigger word to make a certain segment of a certain music-liking population hit “BUY” and roll over into a satisfied coma, it’s gotta be “anthemic,” and Bon Iver are so ferociously and vigorously anthemic that they qualify more as psy-ops than indie pop. The world at large figured these guys out after Kanye West amplified their profile beyond comprehension through guest spots on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy—but they’ll grab you and keep you with the songs on their most recent self-titled LP, designed to suck you into the mind of Iver Justin Vernon and soulmate you so hard you never wanna leave. If this isn’t the voice of a generation, it’s definitely what a generation wants to hear.
