Big Talk

Guys, perhaps it’s time we appreciate another member of The Killers besides Brandon Flowers. Looking for a songwriting outlet, The Killers’ drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. formed Big Talk when The Killers went on a hiatus in 2010. If you haven’t heard Big Talk’s self-titled and only album released in 2011 yet, you might be surprised to find that the music isn’t that reminiscent of Hot Fuss or Sam’s Town. Instead, guitar-led riffs recall elements of Bloc Party’s “Banquet,” and pre-chorus breakdowns sound a lot like something the The Strokes would pen. Among their high tempo, pop-punk/alternative songs are also anthems–and lots of them (see “Under Water”)– that are perfect for welcoming the summer sun.
