Beverly and Monnie Skinn are Mom and Daughter Found Dead in Stanton: Update

See Update No. 2 at the end of this post with the I.D.'s of the dead women. Update No. 1 has a sheriff's official saying autopsies on the mother and daughter were inconclusive as to cause of death.

ORIGINAL POST, AUG. 28, 10:26 A.M.: Imagine the “Crime-iny” category above with a question mark after it because authorities are still scratching their heads over the bodies of three women found about five hours apart in Stanton and Anaheim.

The causes of deaths in both cities are not yet known, so law enforcement is not ready to affix the “homicide” label.

Orange County sheriff's deputies, who patrol Stanton, went to a senior-living apartment in the 7600 block of Katella Avenue just after 4 p.m. Tuesday to check on a woman who had not shown up for work for four days.

Deputies found the bodies of two women, but evidence at the scene did not immediately point to homicide, according to sheriff's Lt. Lloyd Downing, who added it would be unusual for two people to die from natural or accidental causes in the same place at the same approximate time.

“You don't get that too often, but it could happen,” Downing reportedly told City News Service.

In Stanton-adjacent Anaheim, police were called around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday to a person down outside an apartment complex in the 2000 block of West Ball Road, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Steve Pena.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, but Pena reportedly told City News Service her cause of death was not immediately apparent.

UPDATE NO. 1, AUG. 28, 2:45 P.M.: Autopsies today were inconclusive as to what killed a mother and daughter found dead in an apartment complex for seniors in Stanton, according to sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock, the agency's spokesman.

Investigators are now awaiting results of toxicology tests to help determine the cause of death of the pair, whose names and ages were being withheld pending confirmation of their identities, Hallock reportedly told City News Service.

The bodies were found in a unit of the Park Place Apartments.

UPDATE NO. 2, AUG. 30, 8 A.M.: Authorities still do not have a cause of death for a mother and daughter found dead in an apartment at a complex for seniors, but they have released their names.

The mother was Beverly Skinn, 81, and her 43-year-old daughter was Monnie Skinn, according to the sheriff's department.

Beverly Skinn died a day before her birthday Wednesday, deputies added.
