The name says it all. Porch Party Records began on a porch: Long Beach artists and music-lovers hanging out, partying, sharing tunes and ideas. As with so many great musical enterprises, what started as a casual nexus of creativity evolved into a full-on record label in 2013, hosting an array of local indie artists and ensembles. Founder Casey Terrazas made sure the company never lost sight of its roots. Though Porch Party Records no longer has a porch, the parties have merely moved into the front yard and into the house. It’s still common for visiting artists to crash on a couch for a while, and the community surrounding the label remains both open and intimate.
