Corona police officers responded to a 4:20 p.m. call of an assault at Yara Sanchez's residence, but when cops arrived they found Victor Bermudez, 26, of Huntington Park, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Next came the discovery of Yara Sanchez, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bermudez was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and was later listed in stable condition.

As Corona investigators began a search for Benjamin Felix, he turned himself in to Santa Ana police. He was then transferred to Riverside County, where he is being held without bail.
