Indie pop lovers, meet BEGINNERS, an LA-based band whose tunes have the danceability of Chvrches and the emotional intensity of Tegan and Sara. With keys, drums, and echo-y vocals as the base of their music, BEGINNERS’ music certainly has hipster undertones, but the good kind. Choruses are always catchy, and whenever their guitarist is more audible–like in “So Close I Almost Believed It” from their 2014 self-titled album–he’s subtle, suggesting that the band knows a thing or two about creating balance between their instruments. Now resident artists at The Continental Room in Fullerton for June, the new band is off to a good start in getting the exposure they deserve.
