Actress/model/designer Milla Jovovich has called it quits with the fashion world. In the latest issue of Lucky, Jovovich explains the demise of her five-year-old label somewhat vaguely, “It's like, when one door closes… I'm in a time of rediscovery, from my career to my personal style.”
It's a shame, really. The line that Jovovich collaborated with former model Carmen Hawk on stood way, way out amongst the other celebrity “designers”—Lauren Conrad, I'm looking at you—with its distinct feminine vintage feel. It was one of the easiest way to achieve that “girl-about-town cult status most designers spend years trying to achieve,” as Vogue once put it.
Jovovich-Hawk was met with some sizable success; the clothes flew off the shelves at high-end retailers like Fred Segal; they received rave reviews from, well, everyone; and they even had a popular line with Target's GO International. No word yet on whether Jovovich or Hawk plan on pursuing future projects, but here's hopin'.
