Bay Area Daisy at the Fairmont Newport Beach, Our Drink of the Week!

Last week was my annual meet-and-greet with the jefe at the Fairmont Newport Beach. As usual, the conversation was…illuminating. As usual, the cocktails flowed. As I've written before, the Fairmont has really stepped up its cocktail program in the past couple of years, rotating with the seasons and emphasizing innovation. And as usual, I found a new drink to obsess over in the Bay Area Daisy.

Little-known fact: the tequila daisy is an ancestor of the margarita, so this drink initially tasted like a great one: Cointreau, reposado tequila, clementine juice instead of orange, and lime juice to tart everything up. But the trump card is the honey finish, drawn from the hives on the hotel's roof tended to by the Backyard Bees. It's not as stiff a drink as I usually do, but great for the summer–and to toast to more meetings with the same jefe…
