We told you earlier in the week that a federal judge in Santa Ana rejected MGA Entertainment's claim for a $1 billion judgment against Mattel, which the same jurist had previously ordered to pay the smaller toy company $310 million for stealing trade secrets involving Bratz dolls. While the never-ending case will drag on–it's been clogging up the courts for nine years–at least Mattel says it is abandoning its claim that Bratz dolls infringe on the El Segundo-based company's copyright. Oh, Mattel still believes it does, it just won't pursue that claim in court.
However, the toy maker does want Judge David O. Carter's $310 million award to MGA overturned.
Speaking of keeping this sucker going until Ken loses all his plastic hair: MGA has said it will appeal Carter's rejection of the $1 billion payday.
