Billboard reports that Huntington Beach natives Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare debuted at No. 1. It's the band's first No. 1 album, and it bumped down Eminem's Recovery, which spent five weeks at No. 1. It's also Avenged Sevenfold's highest charting record; its 2007 debut peaked at No. 4.
Ben Wener from the OC Register says it's only “the second truly, unashamedly Orange County act in pop history to top the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.
Not since No Doubt topped the charts 15 years ago with its monster breakthrough Tragic Kingdom has a strictly O.C.-based band bested such competition.”
