Author Eric Metaxas Pumps His Book Miracles and the “Real” Phenomenon in Newps Tonight

According to a New York Times bestselling author speaking in Newport Beach tonight, miracles are real, he's tracked them and he can explain why they happen–although it is unclear if Eric Metaxas mingled with those seeking them in Grateful Dead concert parking lots. But his topic has prompted the godless OC Weekly to preview an event co-sponsored by Vanguard University and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, which can mean only one thing: IT'S A SURPRISING AND WELCOME EVENT THAT IS NOT EXPLICABLE BY NATURAL OR SCIENTIFIC LAWS AND IS THEREFORE CONSIDERED TO BE THE WORK OF A DIVINE AGENCY!!!

Vanguard University and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach host “An Evening with Eric Metaxas” at 7 p.m. at the church. It's free and open to the public, but you need a reservation through

Metaxas, who ABC News called a “witty ambassador for faith,” earned the Times bestseller nod for his biography Bonhoeffer, which is about the pastor and author who worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside and was executed in a concentration camp for trying to assassinate Adolf Hitler.

Miracles “explores what they are, why they happen and how they can change your life,” according to tonight's promoters, who further describe the book as “a timely answer to the books of the 'New Atheists'–Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris–who have passionately asserted not just the impossibility of miracles and the supernatural, but the outright harmfulness of belief in them.”

A Metaxas-Hitchens debate: now THAT would be a miracle!
