The deceased is Kamal Malouf, who was in his late 20s, according to Anaheim Police Lt. Eric Trapp. Being kept under guard for Malouf's murder is roommate Augustine Brady Godoy, the 28-year-old man who was taken to Orange County Global (formerly Western) Medical Center in Santa Ana after police arrived in the 1400 block of West Park Avenue regarding an assault and battery, the police spokesman said. Godoy was last listed in critical condition.

ORIGINAL POST, JULY 15, 12:37 P.M.: One man is dead and another is fighting for his life in a local hospital after police were called to a home in a quiet Anaheim neighborhood about an assault and battery.

The call came in just after 6 p.m. Tuesday from a home in the 1400 block of West Park Avenue, where arriving officers knocked on the door but there was no answer, according to Anaheim Police Lt. Eric Trapp.

The television was on in the house, and when cops went around the back they could see through a bedroom window a man covered in blood, said Trapp, who added officers found a second man covered in blood in the kitchen. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man from the bedroom–described as being in his 20s–was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries, according to Trapp.

Police, who are unsure about the men's relationship to one another or what caused them to wind up like they did, have not yet identified either fellow.
