ORIGINAL POST, MAY 20, 10:21 A.M.: A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death in Garden Grove Tuesday night, police say.

Dispatchers got the call just before 9 p.m. about a stabbing in the area of Avalon and Fairview, where arriving officers found the unidentified teen, described only as Hispanic, on the street bleeding from stab wounds, reports Lt. Jeff Nightengale, the Garden Grove Police spokesman.

Garden Grove Fire personnel treated the man before having him taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced deceased at 9:43 p.m., Nightengale said.

The preliminary investigation, which is partly based on interviews with witnesses, indicates a male Asian in his twenties wearing dark clothing was seen leaving the scene of the stabbing on foot, but a search of the area did not produce a suspect or arrest, the spokesman says.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call 714.741.5800.
