There's no denying the undisputed Queen of Tejana music left a deep hole in the hearts of fans after her untimely death in 1995, but several tribute albums, books and even the 1997 biopic Selena starring Jennifer Lopez show that Selena's legacy and music endure. Selena's hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas will be holding its own city-wide Selena festival, but locals can celebrate closer at the “Anything for Salinas” Selena tribute event at the Frida cinema. Drag queens will lip sync to some of Selena's greatest hits, hopefuls will vie to win the costume and bustier contest, and there'll even be a sing-a-long to Selena's songs during the screening of Selena. Funds for the event will support the Gay Straight Alliances as well as the Zoraida Reyes Scholarship fund for transgender individuals. So go and belt out “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” to your heart's content.
