Ya know, you try to write positively about illegal immigrants–defend them against haters, hail their good, blah blah blah–and then a case like the one of Antonia Benitez comes along that wakes up the Jim Gilchrist in you.
Such is the story of Antonia Benitez. Not only is she an illegal immigrant, but she's the mother of 9 at the age of 35. Not only is she the mother of 9, but authorities allege she neglected her youngest so much that the poor girl barely weighs 18 pounds even though she's 4. Not only did Antonio neglect the girl so much, but she let open wounds fester on her mija. And not only did she let those wounds fester, but then she dumped the poor girl off at St. Joseph's in Orange and took off.
Yeah, hard to defend Benitez.

Benitez is scheduled to be arraigned today and is being held on $250,000 bail. Below is the best reporting so far, which aired last night on KCAL-TV Channel 9, in which the mom unsurprisingly denies everything. Something tells me Aztlanistas won't be rallying when this pendeja gets booted back to Mexico…
