A 30-year-old Santa Ana man is accused to pummeling his infant daughter, who at last word was struggling to survive in a local hospital.
Andres Tafoya, who was being held without bail in the Santa Ana city jail, was due to be arraigned Tuesday on attempted murder, torture and child abuse, according to authorities.

Tafoya had been watching his 2-month-old baby while her mother was at work Friday morning, but he later took the girl to the hospital. The father left before police arrived.
Investigators believe Tafoya had hit the child several times in the head. She's now in critical condition.
Cops booked Tafoya Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder and causing willful harm or injury to a child, according to Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
