And Now for Something Completely Different: Mexica Movement's Anti-Thanksgiving Event

While you are shopping today for turkey, trim and giblets, Mexica Movement members are preparing for a totally different holiday celebration.

From 3-6 p.m. Thursday, the union of the indigenous people of the colonial nations known as the U.S., Mexico, Canada and those in Central America, hosts a “Thanks Heck No!” event in Santa Ana.

“Let this event be the alternative to sitting around thanking the master
for our own genocide and rape!” reads a heartwarming holiday message on Facebook. “Let's use these genocidal 'holy' days as
days to educate ourselves and remember our fight!”

Go on . . .

“Those of you who would like to escape the European settler celebration of Thanks-Jesus-For-Letting-Us-Steal-Everything, you can say NO to Europeans and their happiness at getting all of the 'FREE LAND.' We need to remind the world that we didn't GIVE anything to Europeans; it was all stolen, and by all rights our lands, our continent, are still ours. We just need TO DO SOMETHING to change all of the ignorance, we need to SPEAK UP!!!!”

Yeah, and they need to speak up without a mouth stuffed with yams.

Mexica Movement rejects the “Eurocentric and error-filled ideologies” of Aztlan, Mecha, La Raza, the U.S. Southwest, violent Reconquista, colonial borders, Indian reservations, Marxism, Communism and capitalism. And it rejects “racist and Eurocentric terms” such as hispanic, Latino, Raza, Mestizo, illegals, immigrants, Latin Americans, Indians and invaders.

As you might imagine, the organization vehemently opposes Arizona's SB 1070.

The anti-Thanksgiving event goes down at Centro Cultural de Mexico, 310 W. 5th St., Santa Ana. You are free to bring munchies and drinks and leave with t-shirts and posters purchased to help support Mexica Movement.
