Orange County’s three largest cities run DUI checkpoints tonight, and each corresponding police agency is providing the location of their operation.
The Anaheim Police Department Traffic Unit conducts its DUI/drivers license checkpoint in the area of Magnolia and Crescent avenues from 8 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday.
That’s the same starting time for the Irvine Police Department sobriety checkpoint (8 p.m.), but it only runs through 2 a.m. in the area of Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive.
The Santa Ana Police Department checkpoint starts at 9:30 p.m. and runs through is scheduled to 2:30 a.m. in the 500 block of West Warner Avenue.
The three operations have this in common: Drivers caught driving impaired can expect arrest, jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000 (not to mention the embarrassment when friends and family find out … oh, snap, I mentioned it).
Funding for these checkpoints is provided to each police department by California Office of Traffic Safety grants, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
