Reports all over the Interwebz say that Sarah McLachlan's
all-female music festival Lilith Fair, now simply called
Lilith, is quietly cutting more dates from the tour schedule. They've already cancelled shows in Phoenix and Nashville, and Norah Jones's
management recently announced that all of her dates-West Palm Beach and Tampa, Fla.;
Birmingham, Ala.; and Houston and Dallas-have also been cancelled.
So what's this reach-out- to-the-young-'uns contest?
The Lilith Tour is holding a contest looking for a “social media ambassador” for each leg of the tour. The winner will basically tweet what's going on during each show. That's right, anyone who can write concise thoughts in 140 characters can be a candidate.
What will this ambassador get? Media and photo passes, press conference
access, backstage access, and “most importantly, the opportunity to
represent the global Lilith community.” All the chosen “ambassador” will
have to do is take photos and tweet, documenting the whole experience
on the official Lilith Facebook, Twitter, & YouTube Channel.
The applicant should email email@example.com with his/her name, city of Lilith he/she is attending, and a short explanation why he/she would best represent the Lilith community as the Social Media ambassador for his/her city. In the email subject line, applicant must write “CITY NAME – Lilith Ambassador.”
Here's the catch: all applicants must be use their own smart phone that can send/receive e-mails and taking photos.
Talk about the ultimate in crowdsourcing! Lilith isn't accepting “ambassador” applicants for the Irvine stop yet, but additional “ambassador” cities will be announced weekly. Let's just hope it doesn't get canceled before you get a chance to tweet about it.
