I really want to like sheriff's candidate Bill Hunt, I really do. The OC Republican establishment despises him, and anyone those Carona apologists hate, I at the very least appreciate. But no way on Earth can I say anything nice about Hunt as long as he has such a man-crush on Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
How big a man-crush? Hunt is feting him TWICE in the coming days–time to bring out the protests!

Arpaio, of course, is the vile man who lords over Maricopa County like a mini-Mussolini and who–full disclosure–arrested the Weekly's Phoenix-based drunk mick owners in a such a reckless disregard for the First Amendment even Nickel Bag Joe had to release them a day later. Hunt adores him for some reason, and will have two events featuring Arpayaso: a Friday cocktail reception at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach starting at 4:30 p.m., and a Saturday rally at Sutra in Costa Mesa at 10 in the morn (read my Stick a Fork in It post for more commentary on the location of this event). All good people should protest the two Arpayaso happenings, although I'd pick the latter as Triangle Square is in desperate need of crowds. See ustedes there!
