Almost, Maine

Almost, Maine is the little play that almost made it to the big time. Luckily for small theaters everywhere, they now have the opportunity to perform the story whenever they please. Though Almost, Maine kind of bombed when it made its Off-Broadway run, the play has proved its staying power; just seven years after its initial debut in Portland, Almost has been performed hundreds of times around the world. Perhaps it’s the high likelihood of the audience relating to the story—or stories, rather, as Almost is a series of a dozen vignettes about the highs and lows of being in love. Interestingly, the 19 different characters can be played by as few as four actors.

Saturdays, 5 p.m.; Sundays, 4 p.m. Starts: Feb. 19. Continues through March 13, 2011
