Alireza Hashemi, IVC Student, Held in Sexual Assault of 18 y.o. Woman

A student was arrested Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman at Irvine Valley College, where the 21-year-old had previously been the subject of complaints about touching females inappropriately.

Alireza Hashemi was not held or cited in those previous instances, but Irvine Police booked him into the Men's Central Jail for the alleged assault Thursday night.

Hashemi is accused of forcing an 18-year-old woman he'd just met into the back seat of his car in the student parking lot.

She managed to escape and report the creepy encounter to police, who zeroed in on Hashemi as their No. 1 suspect because the woman's description fit that of the man with previous brushes with the law on campus.
