Following a U.S. Department of Labor investigation, a Huntington Beach company and two government contractors must pay $1,060,554 in back wages to about 885 employees at Fort Irwin, near Death Valley National Park.
The share for Acclaim Technical Services is $234,311 to 177 employees.

Acclaim and McNeil Technologies of Virginia are actually subcontractors for the main contractor, CALNET of Virginia. The three firms provide the U.S. Army language, intelligence and IT services at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin.
The Fair Labor Standards Act requires that employees be paid at least
the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for all hours worked, plus
time and a half for hours worked beyond 40 per week. The contractors violated the act by failing to pay workers for the time they were on call between October 2008 and October 2010, the Labor Department discovered.
CALNET was ordered to pay $676,698 in back wages to 597 employees, and McNeil Technologies had to shell out $149,545 to 91 employees.
