It wasn't exactly a Catfish situation for a man who went to a Garden Grove motel at 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 to meet a woman he'd met online.
It's just that, before the night was over, police say the fellow would also run into …
Garden Grove Police Lt. Ben Stauffer described as wild kidnapping/robbery/carjacking case that included the arrests of everyone pictured in this post. Here is how he said it went down: The alleged victim met Fiona Fiaseu through an Internet ad and agreed to meet her at Garden Grove Inn, 7912 Garden Grove Blvd., Garden Grove.
They met in a room around 3:30 a.m. but were soon joined by two other males who whipped out a handgun, threatened the man who arranged the rendezvous, punched him, kicked him and took his wallet, phone and car keys.
All's horrible that ends horribly, the poor sap probably figured. But the original baddies were joined a short time later by two more fellows who forced the victim out of the motel room and back into his own vehicle, which was driven to various ATMs in an attempt to withdraw his money.
This went on for about two hours before the man was dumped off in Costa Mesa–without his property that the five robbers took. He called police around 6:30 a.m., and Stauffer says investigators quickly figured out the identities. Fiona Temukisa Fiaseu, 26, and two men were arrested on Aug. 19. The other two were popped on Thursday.
Booked into the Orange County Jail on robbery, carjacking and kidnapping charges were: Fiaseu; her 24-year-old brother Finau Taumaava Fiaseu; Soane Venasio Lelenoa, 25;
Francisco Javier Vazquez, 20; and Timothy Joseph Perez, 23.
The victim's vehicle has been recovered, Stauffer said.
