If something seems familiar about the 1916 silent movie rolling in the Los Alamitos Museum Sunday afternoon, that's because it was shot near the venue where it is playing.

A Bond of Blood, which was produced by the Capital Film Co. and starred Al Jennings portraying, uh, Al Jennings, was filmed on the dusty streets and boardwalk of old Los Alamitos.
“Watching carefully, you can see a portion of the old Harmona Hotel,” advises the museum, which notes that Los Alamitos at one time was considered “the wildest town in the West.”
“It received this moniker because of the fact that men who came to work the sugar beet industry were without families. Consequently, there were shootings and stabbings on any Saturday night. What better place for a cops and robbers movie?”
I'll resist the urge to offer a city that would be more suitable these days than sleepy Los Al and instead let you know that A Bond of Blood screens from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 11062 Los Alamitos Blvd., Los Alamitos. For more information, call 562.431.8836.
