Hamlet Has No Legs

Hamlet is a pretty durable story. Shakespeare’s tragedy was able to withstand inspiring wacky farces such as the 2008 film Hamlet 2 and a modern-day adaptation starring Ethan Hawke, so it’s a pretty good bet it’ll do just fine as the latest recipient of the “but with puppets!” treatment. Hamlet Has No Legs is an all-puppet version (strongly Muppet-esque) of the legendary play, adapted to the stage by Shaun McNamara, who also performs as the title character. After debuting this past fall at the Empire Theater in Santa Ana, it’s moving to the Maverick Theater in Fullerton for a five-week stint. Now seems to be a bustling time for puppet theater in Orange County, with the Fullerton premiere coming just five days after Stuffed and Unstrung closes at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.

Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 7. Continues through Feb. 13, 2011
