On a Monday nights, you'll probably see a majority of Taco Loco's patrons chowing down on the blackened mushrooms N tofu burger. If you haven't already guessed, this baby is the Monday night special, ringing up at just $4.25 (including chips!), but it isn't just the price that gets this item moving. Thick and juicy, this burger is piled high with sauteed mushrooms, blackened with cajun spices, and homemade guacamole on top of a sprouted wheat bun.
The tofu steak is also “blackened” and has a tender consistency with just enough springiness to give you a satisfying squish between your teeth. The blend of seasonings is harmonious, making it incredibly easy to wolf down the entire burger without thinking twice about its size. If you're a salsa enthusiast, the hot sauce kicks the flavor up to 11 and makes the burger more supple.
The price-to-deliciousness-ratio is weighs so much in your favor here that you won't be bothered by how counter-intuitive it is to be ordering a burger at a taco joint. Hell, at this price you can afford to be greedy and grab yourself a tacos as well… which I also did.
