Every Saturday morning at the SOCO Farmers' Market in Costa Mesa, Arnie sets up a tent and a wheelstone, then lets the sparks fly as he sharpens knives, scissors, shearers, razors and anything that can cut. He works fast and cheap and is kind with his craft; as he'll tell you free of charge, one doesn't actually sharpen knives so much as straighten the blade, and you can sharpen them, too, by using a sharpening tool and rubbing against it, not at a 90-degree angle or 45, but rather at 22 degrees.
