UPDATE, DEC. 29, 4:19 P.M.: Seven men and women were to be arraigned today on attempted murder charges in connection with the weekend melee. According to Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt: Jenny Reyes, 19, of Anaheim, got into an argument with her former boyfriend Saturday night and vowed to return later with her “homies.” She is charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, and street terrorism along with: Jose Luis Segura, 21; Nancy Cervantes Rodriguez, 24; Diana Ruby Ruiz, 22; Tony Alexander Ayala, 20; Joseph Ayala, 17; and Gabriela Chocoteco, 19, all of Anaheim. They also face sentencing enhancements for premeditated attempted murder. The respective gangs of the suspects and victims were not rivals, Wyatt said.
ORIGINAL POST, DEC. 29, 7:03 A.M.: An early morning street fight in Anaheim Sunday left eight people stabbed and six people in custody, according to police.
What was described as a gang-related melee erupted about 1:20 a.m. in the 400 block of Sycamore Street, Anaheim Police spokesman Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.
Three males and five females were nursing stab wounds when officers arrived, and they were all later reported to be in stable condition at a hospital, Wyatt said. They ranged in age from juveniles to late teens, early 20s to one age 45 (a man).
The victims were able to tell investigators that their attackers drove off in a white Toyota Camry, and an officer spotted a vehicle fitting that description that was stopped at Lincoln Avenue and East Street, where six suspects surrendered to police without incident, Wyatt said.
The suspects, who were not injured, included three men and three women, aged between 17 and 24, according to Wyatt, who added they belonged to one unnamed gang and their victims belonged to another.
