3 Irvine Women Commit Suicide in One Week?

We do not yet know if Lisa Ann Cimbaluk took her own life in the Big Bear Lake area, where her body was found Thursday after her snow-covered vehicle had been discovered nearby last Sunday, Jan. 4.

Foul play is not suspected, according to San Bernardino County sheriff's investigators. After the 35-year-old's vehicle was found, her family said she was not the type to go hiking, explore the outdoors or leave without telling anyone.

If it is determined Cimbaluk took her own life, she could be the third Irvine woman to have done so in about a one-week period.

Two other Irvine women apparently took their own lives in public places on Friday. Just before 1:25 p.m., Shiva Maghzi, 22, stepped in front of an Amtrak train in San Clemente and died, according to the Orange County coroner. It appears to be a suicide, says Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock, the department spokesman.

About 8 p.m. Friday, another Irvine woman, Eva Lai, 77, apparently leaped to her death onto the San Diego Creek bed in the 4050 block of Barranca Parkway near the West Yale Loop in Irvine, according to the county coroner.
