Officers got a medical aid call around 1:45 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 2500 block of South Linda Way, where the child was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A search warrant for the residence near Warner Avenue at Raitt Street was obtained, and detectives took the boy's parents to police headquarters for questioning. They were later released.

Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, the department spokesman, told reporters “suspicious circumstances” at the scene prompted the homicide investigation. An autopsy is scheduled today.
