2 Fullerton Schools Locked Down as Cops Seek Intruder: Update

Two Fullerton schools are in lockdown as police search for a burglary suspect who broke into a home in the 2000 block of Mariposa Lane.

Sunset Lane Elementary School and D. Russell Parks Junior High are in that area.

UPDATE, MAY 24, 11:35 A.M.: A woman heard someone break into her home through the back door in the 2000 block of Mariposa Lane around 9:40 a.m., locked herself in a bedroom and called 9-1-1, according to, Fullerton Police Sergeant Jeff Stuart.

When officers arrived, they got the woman out of the house and made sure she was safe, Stuart tells City News Service.

Cops did not initially find the intruder, but they returned to the neighborhood to do a more widespread search that was expected to be wrapped up five minutes ago, according to Stuart, who confirmed Parks Junior High School at 1710 Rosecrans Ave. and Sunset Lane
Elementary at 2030 N. Sunset Lane were the campuses that were locked down.
