Taco Bell Crime of the Week: Man Drives Backwards through Drive-Thru, Gets Collared for Pot!

The drive-thru window at Taco Bell has been the site of many a hilarious entry in this column; people here have done everything from fall asleep while attempting to order to getting arrested for DUI when they crash into it to try and carjack someone to many, many more. But I do think the following is the first-ever instance of someone trying to drive backwards through a drive-thru. And if you are going to try that joke, PLEASE don't do it while carrying pot on you–AND please don't do it if cops are nearby.

From Silver Springs, Pennsylvania:

A Silver Spring Township man was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana after police said he drove his car backward through a Taco Bell drive-thru earlier this month.

Donovin M. Espenshade, 18, of Mechanicsburg, was observed by Silver Spring Township police driving his car backward up to the cashier window at the Taco Bell at 6520 Carlisle Pike sometime Dec. 5, according to brief police release. After officer pulled him over, Espenshade was apparently found with a small amount of marijuana, police said.

Police also charged Espenshade with disorderly conduct for his drive-thru antics, police added.
