Slater's 50/50 Announces March Burger of the Month AND Next Location!

We consumed Brouwerij West Tripels with a former Weekling during a Yelp event at Slater's 50/50 in Huntington Beach. In addition to the stellar beer selection, founder Scott Slater was on hand to answer questions from the audience.

Slater reminisced about Sunday-morning tailgating in San Diego and how the inspiration for his infamous 50/50 began. We also learned about the creative process when developing new menu items. The staff go through 25,000 pounds of all-natural, smoked bacon each month among all the locations. The corporate beermonger (Best. Job. Ever.) is dedicated to researching new IPAs, Belgian ales and stouts to include in each restaurant's rotation.

Besides St. Paddy's Day, we can all look forward to the March Burger of the Month: the Drunken Steak Sandwich. It begins with 8 ounces of New York steak, aged 21 days and marinated in molasses and Jameson Irish whiskey. Sliced Provolone, roasted red peppers, arugula and bacon dress our sammich. Plum tomatoes soaked in balsamic vinegar and


Jameson find their way in, plus a special blue cheese dressing concocted with Guinness. This March madness is contained between toasted artisan ciabatta. And it can be yours beginning Friday.

Oh, yeah, and Scott Slater happened to disclose the next retaurant's location. Our friends in the 909 will appreciate this one: Rancho Cucamonga. Additional details as soon as we gain Slater's trust back.
