#82: Lobster Roll at Lobsta Truck

Few foods better capture the flavor of the New England shore better than the lobster roll. It's simply steamed, chilled lobster meat in a butter-grilled New England-style split-top roll. Portable, chilled, light-yet-substantial, it's the perfect summer seafood dish and the least fussy way to eat lobster.

In the span of a few months this year, two luxe loncheras launched their versions of the lobster roll, both of which drastically improve on the desolate lobster roll landscape that was here before they arrived. In short, both trucks make a worthy sandwich, but Lobsta Truck dishes the version nearest to the classic New England way.

Lobsta Truck dresses the lobster meat in two ways: either with drawn butter, or with mayo in a lobster salad. Both ways are authentically Downeast,  but which should you get? Take a friend and get both.

While there, get a cup of their white clam chowder, a deliciously creamy, un-starchy version loaded with tender clam meat. You can't ask for much more to fix your longing for those Bar Harbor summers. Ok, you can -- can someone please build us a proper New England clam shack and make us our other summertime favorite, fried whole-belly clams?
