What You Missed: Newport Beach Film Festival, Boathouse Collective, The Uprising: Best Trick Skateboarding Contest, the Killingtons


Michael Rosas of Smile, Jeff Caudill of Gameface, Teen Heroes and the Killingtons performed last night at the Glass House in Pomona. It was the Killingtons' final show of a two-night run, which started Friday night at Alex's Bar in Long Beach. After dissolving in 2005, the Killingtons never played a proper farewell show–they finally did that this weekend. And it was awesome. Read our Q&As with the Killingtons here and here. Another year, another Newport Beach Film Festival! We took to the red carpet on 4/22 to shoot all the arrivals, nominees, stars and attendees, then hung out at the opening night gala, which included a performance by Cirque du Soleil and a fashion show. On Saturday, the Sanctuary in Huntington Beach hosted a $1,000 Best Trick skateboarding contest judged by Brian Sumner, Christian Hosoi, Josh Harmony, Shawn Mandoli. First place went to Josiah Gatlyn; Steve Olson placed second; Chris Mcnealty placed third; Eric Price placed fourth. Check out all the photos by John Gilhooley right here.
